Trauma under age 5
Why is trauma under the age of 5 so important to consider? Much of our brain’s wiring occurs when we are very young. Trauma interferes with healthy brain development, leading to challenges in the areas of emotional, psychological, physical, social and
educational growth.
Trauma can disrupt healthy caregiver attachment. Children often develop an ambivalent form of attachment in which they desperately want to connect and trust but are very fearful of what could happen if they do.
